Bass
Kazui began his journey under the mentorship of legendary bassist Kenji “JINO” Hino, and has since developed a distinctive voice as a performer, composer, and arranger. Drawing from jazz fusion, funk, soul, and modern jazz, his music explores themes like impermanence and self-identity with depth and nuance.
He performs widely in Japan, supporting various artists and leading his own “Kazui BAND” project. In 2024, he composed and performed the opening ceremony music for the B.LEAGUE basketball game at Es Con Field HOKKAIDO — a major showcase of his original work.
His debut album As Kazui, set for release in summer 2025, is an artistic blend of groove-based music and thoughtful storytelling. He is also the founder of Jongleur, a project fusing music with poetry, tap dance, and other arts. His collaborative unit JINOKAZ with JINO brings a powerful twin-bass dynamic to the stage.
Studies & Style
Kazui’s studies are groove-oriented and artistically open. He encourages students to find their sound, develop strong technical foundations, and express themselves fully through the bass — whether in tight ensemble playing or original compositions.
